"Here I would like to take the opportunity to share my experiences of my recent visit to John of God (João de Deus), leading a small tour group of fellow seekers. As we journeyed high up across the Brazilian plateau to our home for the next few days, I was feeling exhilarated from our Peruvian and Amazon journey. It had been intense at times but as usual filled with many gifts from the Divine, each one teaching us so much about ourselves.
Our first evening at our destination was an introduction to ways of the Casa de Dom Inacio Healing Sanctuary (otherwise known as just 'the Casa'), where João Teixeira de Faria performs surgery twice a day, three days a week. We received an in-depth explanation of what to expect each day and watched a video presentation of John of God at work.
We spent several days in the Casa (named after St Ignatious Loyala) – a little hospital set in tranquil gardens amidst rolling hills, and lying on a natural bed of quartz crystal – receiving operations and healings, and witnessing many miracles, and hearing countless testimonials from patients with various kinds of cancer (including 'terminal' cases), as well as sufferers of osteoarthritis, ulcers and many other deeply rooted diseases. I came away in awe of this modern day 'Jesus': a truly humble man engaged in curing the sick and helping with their suffering – a true Christian.
